The Sims

Well this weekend was fun.  I had very little cash to spend so I couldn't travel and explore new places like I tend to do every other weekend.  So I ended up staying at home, and I bought (on credit card) a new game to occupy me.

I used to play Sim games alot in my teenage years, and one game I remember being quite fun and addicting was "The Sims".  So I went out and bought "The Sims 2"...  But I needed a full 4 to 6 gigs of free space on my computer to install the 4 CD-ROM's !!!   So I also purchased a much needed external USB 2.0 60 gig hard drive which is actually very handy.  I transfered about 6 gigs of pictures onto the hard drive and it went well.

Anyhow,  after all of that,  and a long install of 4 CD-ROM's I got to see what the new Sims was all about.  I created a new family and moved them into a house...  Its quite fun, similar to the old Sims but the views are different and personalitys are more complex.  I personally think the views are way too much.  I would rather have a more above facing view, then a side facing view, because the new side facing view doesn't allow you to really look at a large portion of the house,  because even with the walls minimized, the furnature is still in the way.

I also had alot of Lag...  mind you I had a family of 8 people and usually at any given time there was a guest over aswell.   So there were alot of people interacting,  but there was alot of lag, to the point where it can become boring to play after a while...   however it seems lifespans arent very long (adults live as adults for like 26 to 30 days, before turning to elders.) so lag might actually make the life spans seem longer.

Anyhow,  I have a decent computer, and I am still getting lag with few background programs running (only windows system programs)...   so I dunno..   but its a cool game none the less, I would give it a 4 out of 5.

I also had a lovely dinner with my mom which was quite nice,   I broke out the old silverware and polished it up, while my girlfriend "nightbird" prepared the dinner.

Anyhow,  it was a fun weekend for not having done our usual exciting adventurious stuff.
